10/11/01 Question 131

Dear Preschool Teacher,
I am a freshman at Nassau Community College and I was wondering what schools you went to, to get to the job that you have today.
Curious about College

Dear Curious about College,

I graduated from Whittier College in Whittier, CA and did my 5th year, emphasis in Early Childhood Education, at Cal State University, Fullerton in CA.  This is more than is required for my current position in preschool.

Dear Curious about College,

Good question.  I went to Goshen College in Goshen, Indiana.  It is a 4-year liberal arts college.  I have a B.A. Degree in Early Childhood Education.  I then took some graduate classes at Georgia State University to get a Preschool Special Education Endorsement.  Now I teach preschool special education in a public school in Metro Atlanta.

Dear Curious about College,

I went to Kent State University.  I have a Bachelor's Degree in Individual and Family Development with the major emphasis on Child Care. What it includes is a lot of consumer studies, child, adolescent, and family dynamics.  I have taken nutrition , child development, early childhood education and the usual  basic classes. According to what our Head Start requires though, I am over-qualified.  An Associate Degree is really all
that is needed, but I love teaching!

Dear Curious about College,

I myself starting taking Early Childhood classes in Florida at a technical school. I decided to move back to Massachusetts where I continued my education at the local community college. This college has a two year AS degree program for Early Childhood but it has taken me 4 years to complete it as I was taking night classes. I am finally going to graduate this semester after I complete the Student Teaching class.
