5/10/02 Question 157

Dear Preschool Teacher,
I have an upcoming theme entitled "Taking care of our world".  I am having difficulty finding materials for this unit. (We have already done a unit on the rainforest.) I teach pre- Kindergarten children.  Any suggestions you have would be appreciated!
Friend to the World

Dear Friend to the World,

You should be able to find a ton of materials for recycling!!!
Include setting up three bins or boxes with appropriate labels to sort paper, plastic and glass items.
Have fun!

Dear Friend to the World,
Try recycling ideas.  Use clean, used objects for art.  Build with empty boxes and buckets.  Ask for donations of used clothes for dramatic play.  Also try pollution prevention.  Think of ways to keep the Earth clean.  Make trash bags for litter collection.  Talk about garbage disposal and water clean-up.  There are many good resources available in your community if you look around.
